Basingstoke Club Champs September 2009

With the end of the Track & Field season in site, BMHAC held their Club Championships at DG with over 120 Young Athletes competing. With all the Clubs star athletes in action there were some tremendous late season performances recorded on an action packed afternoon which also saw Presentations of Life Membership made to Andy Blow, Holly Croxford, Sam Sleap and Emma Buckett for their recent International appearances.

On the Track with a strong wind behind them the sprinters ran well, in the Under 20 age group Keiron Showler-Davis recorded a good double of 10.6s for the 100m and 21.3s for the 200m. Down the age groups Jack Winter recorded 12.3s in the U17s and Rebecca Curtis-Harris 12.7s in the U17 Women's event. In the younger age groups the quality was maintained with Joel Field in the U15s being timed at 12.5s while Myles Richardson went even faster in the U13s with 12.3s. On the Girls side Lucy Bomphrey was fastest with 13.5s in the U13s. The 200s were equally as good with the following times, Myles Richardson recording 25.1s, Tom James U17 24.2s and Christina Parsons U20W 26.9s. The 1 Lappers also came up with the goods including a 57.2s from Joel Field, a 53.3s from Chris Ladhams U17M and 53.4s from Liam McGarrigle U20M all winners in their category and in the Women's equivalent Danielle Tregent recorded 46.9s in the 300m

Despite the wind the middle distance runners responded to the competition and the 800m events were good Liam McGarriggle won a close race in a joint U20/U17 event in a new PB of 1m59.4s over Chris Ladhams who also ran a PB of 1m59.8s. Jenny Helyar went under 2m 30 for the second time with a 2m29.2s clocking and Richard Fernando sliced a big ammount off his best with 2m23.8s they were in the U15G and U15B respectively. In the Hurdles Keira Barker recorded 12.1s for the U13 70m, Emma Buckett matched this in the U17 80m.

Finally the Field was a rich source of fine performances. Outstanding Shot Putt came from Tanisha Clayton with a 11.78m Putt to put her 6th in the GB rankings for U15s.
Becky Curtis-Harris wasnt far behind in the U17s with a 11.31m while Chistina Parsons Putt 10.10m in the U20s. There was an interesting dual in the U20M Shot with Sam Sleap coming out on top with 12.90m and Jack Winter threw a new PB in the U17 Javelin with 45.58m. The Long Jump was a popular event and Becky Curtis-Harris went out to a season's best jumping 5.61m. while Sam Sleap jumped 6.43m.
