Ladies Secretary
2009 was the Ladies first year in Division 3 senior only league. The club made the decision to move to the senior only league after many years of not being able to get a full junior team to compete.
This was a big decision for the club, but it was decided that the senior ladies were being held back from progressing because they were loosing valuable points by not having a complete junior team. The move did mean that the team went from Division one in the mixed senior and junior league to Division three in the senior only league.
The Ladies senior team had a very strong year and won the league convincingly. The team will therefore be promoted to Division two for the 2010 season!
Division three was a very competitive league, but overall the size and strength of our ladies team meant that we finished all our meetings in either first or second place. As always the team’s weakness were the field events, in particular the throwing events. We had athletes competing in these events, but it is obvious that we lack specialist technical throwers.
I would like to thank Dawn Wright who continued as Ladies Team Manager for 2009 and did an excellent job. Her enthusiasm and determination to get the best team out to competitions was very welcomed. I would also like to thank the officials that have continued to support us at meetings and I know all the ladies consider them to be a valuable part of the team.
The team are looking forward to the 2010 season and performing well in Division two!
