England Senior and Under 20 Combined events Championships

Basingstoke athletes achieved some significant performance over the weekend. Competing at Sheffield at the England Senior and Under 20 Combined events Championships best placing came from Emma Buckett in the Under 20 Penthalon where Emma won the Silver medal with her score of 3522 points over the 5 events.

Her best performance came in the Long Jump which she was longest performer with 5.63m. Also in this competiton was Becky Curtis-Harris an under 17 who took 6th place with 3285 points, while Kate Lysons was 11th with 2801 points.
 
On the Mens side of things Ben Hazell placed 5th with 5094 points, while Robbie Kite was 10th and 3rd Under 23 scoring 4870 for the 7 event, 2 day competition. John Dickinson unfortunately had to pull out of the competiton with a hamstring injury early on. Sam Sleap was another who sufferd from this injury in the Under 20 event, 4th for most of the 2 days, Sam slipped to 7th after the 1000m at the end of the 2nd day with 4641 points having struggled around the last race.


The South of England Combined Championships where running at the same time and a number of Basingstoke athletes gained medals:

Junior Women:
Emma Buckett - Gold
Rebecca Curtis Harris - Bronze
Junior Men:
Sam Sleap - Bronze
Senior Men:
Ben Hazell - Silver

South of England Indoor Championships

At Lee Valley the South of England Indoor Championships were held and again BMHAC athletes were to the fore. In the Final of the 800m it was Nick Bates who came through to take the bronze medal with 1m59.33s, this after having done 1m58.26s in his heat. Just behind him was Dave Ragan in 4th with 2m3.08s having done 1m58.66s to qualify.
 
In the 400m Final Basingstoke had 2 Finalists and best of these was Mark Berridge in 4th with 48.49s while Jonathan Elderfield was 6th in 51.54s having run 50.51s to get to the Final.
