                         Southern Men’s  League (Match 1)

The men of BMH Southern League had an eventful afternoon on Saturday 5th May, when they came up against a team from Aldershot Farnham and District which were relegated from Div.2 last year. The teams jostled for points throughout, and in the end narrowly lost out by only 3 points, in a match which also included Wimborne, and Chichester.
          
Some good performances were put in, with under 20 Tom Fright winning the 110m Hurdles in an exceptional time of 16.4 seconds.Tom also won the A-string long jump with a leap of 6.25m. Fellow u20 Sam Sleap gained 2nd B-string with 5.87m, to go along with his wins in the high jump (1.75m) and pole vault (3.40m).
           
Under 17 Jack Graham, in his first outing for the team, put in an excellent time of 2.03.3s, giving him a personal best for his 3rd place A-string 800m, while comeback specialist Dave Stanley beat off his nearest competitor on the line to win his B-string 800m in 2.05.3s.
            
There were also wins for Andy Waddington (hj- 1.70m), Gavin Berry (polevault - 3.20m), Lewis Butler (triple-jump 11.50m) and Doug Kelson (hammer - 33.60m).
              
The relay teams did well, winning the 4x100m in a time of 48.8s, but were dipped right on the line in the final event, the 4x400, in 3.36.7s.
