South of England Pentathlon Championships, Bedford 28th September
A splendid performance by under 15 Rebecca Curtis-Harris saw her retain her title in the pentathlon (5 events) with also a personal best in the shot of 10.51m putting her in the top 20 in the UK this year and a pb in her points total of 3200 breaking her own club record which she also bettered last week; placing her 2nd in this years UK ranking and 21st in the all time (power of 10) UK ranking. Her final competition is later on in the year when she represents English Schools in a home international.

English Schools Combined Events National Final 20th & 21st Sept - Results
At the English Schools Combined events Championships at Birmingham on the 20/21st September, three club athletes performed exceptionally well with Katy Lysons who despite being disqualified in the hurdles, she carried on to finish the senior girls Heptathlon (7 events) and getting a pb in the shot. Sam Sleap in the senior men’s Decathlon (10 events) got pb’s in 400m, discus and points total to finish 12th. In the junior girls Pentathlon (5 events) Rebecca Curtis-Harris got pb’s in the shot, 800m, equalled her pb in 75m hurdles and got an overall points total pb (a new club record) to rank her 2nd in the UK and 24th in the all time UK ranking. She took the SILVER medal to go along side the Bronze she won in the long jump at the English Track and Field Championships earlier in the summer.

At the England (also at same time South of England) combined events (Heptathlon - 7 events)indoor championships at Sheffield on the 12/13 January; in the senior men's Richard Fox was 18th (14th in the South) and Tony Higbee whilst lying in 14th place had to withdraw through injury.

The two under 20 athletes both achieved several PB's with Sam Sleap in this first year in this age group who came 14th (5th South England) high jumping a PB of 1.89m (13cms above own height) whilst Tom Fright came 15th (6th in the South)
