BASINGSTOKE VOLUNTARY SPORTS COUNCIL

AWARD SCHEME 2023

The Sports Council has initiated the ‘Celebration & recognition of local support’ awards. We have been given the following information to circulate to all members.

The aim of the awards is to promote those who deserve it and to raise the profile of the various sports and clubs within Basingstoke & Deane.

The categories are:

Junior (U.18), Senior, Veteran or Masters Sportsmen & Women of the year

Junior (U.18) or Senior Sports Official or Volunteer of the year

Professional or Volunteer Coach of the Year

Service to Sport

Junior (U.18) or Senior Team Club of the Year

Club of the Year.

Each category has a specific application form. If you wish to nominate someone for an award, please let me know and I will forward to you the appropriate application form. You may nominate for more than one category,

For some of the awards the person nominating must be over 25 years of age.

Your submission should include details of major achievements during 2023 at international, regional and local levels and note if a member of a national squad, plus attach a photo in sporting attire.

Closing date for submissions is Sunday evening December 24th

Successful nominees will receive: A selection of nominees will be promoted on the Basingstoke Sports Council Facebook page and some will be put forward to the 2024 ‘Place to Be Proud of’ awards. Hopefully, some form of low key gathering will be organised early in the new ‘Olympic’ Year. (Obviously you can nominate to the ‘Place to be proud of’ awards directly, you do not have to go through the Sports Council.)

This is not a restart of the previous grant aid or Sports Awards, as funding support is no longer available.
